Standard laminate
Built for interior rooms where excessive moisture is not expected. Bedrooms, living rooms, studies, hallways and dining rooms are the usual homes for it.
Dry rooms
Timber-look flooring with practical everyday appeal. Laminate gives you the look of timber boards in a hard-wearing, easy-care format, across oak, Australian timber-inspired and contemporary colours.
Ranges differ more than they look, particularly in how they handle water. Your local Andersens team can help you compare products properly and work out what suits each room.
Five laminate ranges, each available in several colourways. The colours shown are the options in that range, and your local store can show you full-size samples in person.

Modern laminate reproduces timber colour, grain, plank definition and surface texture in real detail. Pressed bevels and texture are what separate a convincing floor from a flat one.
Regular vacuuming, sweeping and approved damp cleaning is the whole routine for most households.
Many laminate products are designed to handle regular traffic, though how much varies by range. Durability is a product question, not a category one.
Coastal, Scandinavian, contemporary, traditional and rental-friendly looks are all covered, which is why laminate turns up across such different homes.
Laminate is usually a more budget-conscious way to get a timber look than natural timber. Total project cost still depends on the product, the preparation and the installation.
General guidance to narrow things down. Whether a particular product suits a particular room is confirmed at product level, and your local store will check that with you.
| Room | General guidance |
|---|---|
| Living room | Often suitable |
| Bedroom | Often suitable |
| Dining room | Often suitable |
| Hallway | Check the wear rating |
| Home office | Often suitable, with chair protection |
| Kitchen | Confirm the product moisture specification |
| Laundry | Product-specific assessment required |
| Bathroom | Specialist product and installation assessment required |
| Stairs | Confirm a matching stair system exists |
Boards differ in construction, surface finish, wear rating, installation system and, above all, in how they handle water. Two laminate floors that look almost identical can be specified for completely different rooms.
Built for interior rooms where excessive moisture is not expected. Bedrooms, living rooms, studies, hallways and dining rooms are the usual homes for it.
Construction or edge technology designed to cope better with everyday spills than a standard board. Better does not mean unlimited, and it does not automatically make a product right for a kitchen or laundry.
Some laminate products carry substantially stronger manufacturer water claims than others. Those claims belong to the individual product and its installation instructions, so ask which range you are looking at and what its specification actually says.
Pressed surface detail and bevelled edges give individual boards more definition, which is what separates convincing timber-look laminate from flat-looking laminate.
Most laminate uses an interlocking system where boards connect to each other rather than being fixed to the subfloor. Requirements still vary, so the manufacturer system is followed.
The question worth asking. Water performance varies more between laminate products than any other characteristic, and it is not something you can judge from a photo or a colour name. Ask which range you are looking at, what its water specification actually says, and which rooms the manufacturer approves it for. That one question rules out most of the mistakes people make with laminate.
Laminate is almost entirely timber-look, so the decision comes down to tone, board definition and texture rather than material.
Suits coastal homes, Scandinavian interiors, smaller rooms and neutral kitchens. The safest choice for brightening a space.
A softer, more traditional timber look. Sits well with cream, beige, warm white, natural stone and timber cabinetry.
Cooler neutrals for contemporary interiors and rental properties, where a less warm foundation is wanted.
Australian timber-inspired designs that give laminate a more local visual character.
Another Australian species look, with more colour variation across the board.
Creates depth and contrast. Worth weighing against natural light, room size, and how visible dust and pet hair will be.
A pressed bevel defines each board, so the floor reads as individual planks rather than a continuous printed sheet.
Surface texture reproduces the feel of timber grain. Worth assessing by hand as well as by eye.

With laminate it is also worth running a hand across the surface, because texture is doing as much work as the print.
