A complimenting rug can be the difference in a room being a nice room or an becoming an absolutely stunning room. When placed on a hard surface floor, a rug can easily slip out from underneath you as you walk on it. This can be a hazard, so it is important that if you have rugs in your home they are secure and correctly placed onto the flooring surface.
Here are some quick tips on how to stop rugs from slipping on hard surface floors:
Tip 1: Measure your rug width and lengthwise before going to buy anything and remember not to include the fringe edges in your measurements
Tip 2: Rug Pads are the most common solution but since there are different qualities of rug pads made, call your trusted Andersens store for recommendations.
Tip 3: There are many other options to try such as using a roll of rubber coated shelf liner. Cut it to fit under your rug. Lay it on the floor and place your rug on top of it.
Tip 4: If you have hardwood or laminate flooring and the rug is in a high traffic location you may need to buy a good quality, double-sided tape and use it to stick your rug down. Some speciality flooring stores carry a tape specifically for this purpose but again check with your local Andersens to see if they have it in stock.
