For the uninitiated, Pantone is a provider of colour systems that are used to select and communicate colour in a number of industries, including interior design and decorating. On top of regularly selecting a ‘Color of the Year’, Pantone has now spread their influence a step further by announcing their colour forecast for next year.

At the recent International Home and Housewares Show, Pantone’s Executive Director, Leatrice Eiseman, shared the colours Pantone predicts will dominate the interior design landscape in 2018.

According to Pantone, their colour predictions for next year reflect consumer desire for something new – “colors are revitalized, hues are mixed in novel combinations, and new color directions express a fresh approach”.

Whether these predictions will come true is yet to be seen. While interior designers may apply bolder colour combos without hesitation, will hobbyist home decorators embrace these colour schemes with equal enthusiasm?
