Choosing the flooring for your bathroom can be extremely fun and extremely stressful all at the same time! Wood as a flooring option in your bathroom simply oozes class and style. This option is particularly good for those who have wood floors through-out their home. A big advantage of wood is that it’s a timeless choice that never really loses popularity – unlike some of its tile counterparts (who can forget the classic 70’s orange and khaki). Wooden flooring can be a little heavy on the budget however and does need to be maintained regularly to ensure its properly sealed.

Bamboo

Highly sustainable, durable and (for engineered options) ideal for wet environments, bamboo is fast becoming one of the most popular choices in flooring for the bathroom. Relatively new to flooring world, bamboo is already becoming a real fashion statement. The good here is that it can be a less expensive option to wood flooring although still not as inexpensive as some tiling options.

Vinyl

If you’re on a tight budget and need something that’s easily maintained and available in a HUGE variety of styles, textures, shapes and colours, then vinyl is the flooring for your bathroom. Make sure you choose a top quality option for your bathroom flooring though, as some of the cheaper options (especially peel-and-stick types) can be prone to leaks.

Cork

A great unsung hero in today’s homes – Cork is a highly sustainable flooring option that is perfectly suited to the bathroom… especially given that it’s resistant to water, mould and mildew! It’s relatively cost-effective, although cork will need regular sealing and maintenance. Another advantage of cork is that it feels wonderful underfoot and will feel warmer in winter.
