Bamboo Flooring

Andersens’ bamboo flooring is a cost effective, luxurious and environmentally friendly flooring option for your living space. The strong fast growing plant only takes a few years to reach maturity, compared to decades for some hardwood trees. Not only does it grow faster, but it is stronger, more durable and less expensive than hardwood – usually 25% to 50% less expensive. Boasting unique grains and colours, bamboo is a stylish choice to compliment your home and can be installed over numerous sub-floors such as wood, sheathing grade plywood and vinyl tile.

There are many environmental as well as health benefits to choosing bamboo for your home that are important to consider.

  • Bamboo is a fast growing plant, only taking a few years to reach maturity in comparison to hardwood
  • When bamboo is harvested, the root continues to live and produces new stock.
  • Bamboo is also harder and therefore more durable than hardwood
  • Made with safe resins, they have extremely low formaldehyde emissions and make excellent floors for healthy homes.
  • Bamboo is ideal for allergy sufferers, as they do not promote dust collection or harbor dust mites

To keep your bamboo floors free from damage or signs of wear in your home, ensure that you follow our guides to maintenance and cleaning. The flooring option is easy to clean by regular sweeping or vacuuming, but steps should be taken to ensure the prevention of any scratching or damage.

Simple Cleaning

  • Check your vacuum head for any embedded grit dirt or other objects that can scratch the floor
  • Use protective mats at exterior entrances to prevent sand, dirt or grit build up on the floor – this can act like sandpaper
  • Never wet or damp mop your bamboo floor

  • When a spill occurs, soak up the bulk liquid promptly
  • Use diluted methylated sprits to remove any light marks or scrapes
  • Use undiluted methylated spirits to remove stubborn stains (red wine, coffee)
  • Do not use oil soaps, wax, liquid or other household products to clean your floor. These can dull your finish and make re-finishing difficult.

Scratch prevention

  • Spiked heels or shoes in need of repair can damage your floor
  • Use felt protectors under heavy pieces of furniture and chairs. Do not use rubber.
  • Protect your floor when using a dolly for moving furniture or appliances, do not slide or roll the furniture
  • Do not use abrasive pads to clean or scrub the floor
