Bamboo Flooring

Bamboo flooring is a cost effective, luxurious and environmentally friendly option for homes, offices and commercial spaces.

Bamboo is a fast growing plant that takes just a few years to reach maturity. Not only does it grow faster than hardwood trees that usually take decades to mature, but it is stronger, more durable and less expensive than hardwood – usually 25% to 50% less expensive. The price of bamboo flooring usually sits between laminate and timber products.

Boasting unique grains, bold colours and smooth textures, bamboo is a stylish flooring choice to compliment your home. This product is available in a range of colours from brushed lime white, to dark java, making Bamboo flooring ideal for kitchens, bedrooms and living areas.

Installation of bamboo floors is a relatively simple process. Bamboo floors are usually installed as floating floorboards and can be installed over numerous sub-floors such as wood, sheathing grade plywood and vinyl tile.

Bamboo floorboards are more durable than timber flooring and less likely to dent than laminate. Follow our maintenance tips below to improve the lifespan of your bamboo floor.

BAMBOO FLOOR MAINTENANCE TIPS

To keep your bamboo floors free from damage or signs of wear in your home, ensure that you follow our guides for maintenance and cleaning.

Bamboo floors are easy to clean by regular sweeping or vacuuming, but steps should be taken to ensure the prevention of any scratching or damage.

Simple Cleaning

  • Check your vacuum head for any embedded grit dirt or other objects that can scratch the floor.
  • Use protective mats at exterior entrances to prevent sand, dirt or grit build up on the floor – this can act like sandpaper.
  • Never wet or damp mop your bamboo floor.
  • Use of a micro fibre mop is recommended for regular cleaning.
  • Avoid using chemicals on your bamboo floors, as they are likely to leave streaks or residue.

Spills

  • When a spill occurs, soak up the bulk liquid promptly.
  • Use diluted methylated sprits to remove any light marks or scrapes.
  • Use undiluted methylated spirits to remove stubborn stains (red wine, coffee).
  • Do not use oil soaps, wax, liquid or other household products to clean your floor. These can dull your finish and make re-finishing difficult.

Scratch prevention

  • Spiked heels or shoes in need of repair can damage your bamboo floor
  • Use felt protectors under heavy pieces of furniture and chairs. Do not use rubber.
  • Protect your floor when using a dolly for moving furniture or appliances, do not slide or roll the furniture
  • Do not use abrasive pads to clean or scrub a bamboo floor
